"y-cruncher is (probably) the first efficient multi-threaded Pi-program written by an undergraduate college student.
y-cruncher is able to multi-thread WITHOUT significantly increasing memory usage.
- Single-threaded, y-cruncher is as fast as PiFast 4.3 and a tad slower than QuickPi 4.5 (single-threaded).
- With 2 threads on Pentium D and Core 2 Duo, y-cruncher beats PiFast 4.3 and is neck-and-neck with multi-threaded QuickPi 4.5.
- With 4 threads on Core 2 Quad and Phenom X4, y-cruncher beats multi-threaded QuickPi 4.5.
- With 8 threads on "Nagisa", the situation can be best described as (for lack of a better word), "Massive Ownage".
