Da mein PC nicht über die Leistung verfügt SMP-WU's bis zur Deadline fertig zu machen. Habe ich 2xSingle-CPU und 1xGPU am laufen. Da ich mir nicht sicher war, ob dies wirklich die ertragreichste Variante ist, habe ich mal einige Testläufe gemacht. Die PPD sind aus dem Durchschnitt der letzten 3% gerechnet:

Die Werte schwanken teilweise. Da das Projekt am CPU2 rechts groß ist, ist es stabil bei ~260 PPD. Die CPU1 schankt um +0/-100PPD und die GPU um +100/-0PPD.
Wenn ich wieder ein P4752 habe und die Uni es zulässt, werde ich es mit WinSMP, DebianSMP und XubuntuSMP vergleichen.

Du hast in deiner Signatur als CPU X2 5000+ BE@3,1 GHz stehen. Damit schaffst du locker auch SMP-WU.
Zum Vergleich: ein X2 5050e@2,6 GHz braucht etwa 40 Stunden für eine WU mit 1760 Punkten, 50h/1920P und 60h/2100P.
Die deadlines liegen so bei 3 bis 6 Tagen.
Beim Laden der WU sieht man ja die voraussichtliche Bearbeitungszeit und die dazugehörige deadline, da kann man also gut abschätzen,
ob man das auch schafft, wenn man den PC zwischendurch ausschaltet.
Mit nem Linux client fährst du aber sicher noch besser.
Wieso eigentlich "wenn die Uni es zulässt"?

Hast du FahMon auf L3F und schon mindestens 3 frames berechnet oder ist das eine "Momentaufnahme"?
Hintergrund der Frage: Mit 2 clients auf meiner 88ooGTS kann ich FahMon auch zur Anzeige von über 10.000 PPD überreden, wenn ich im ersten frame ablese.
Deswegen hab ich bei meinen letzten screenshots auch die Konsole mit eingeblendet.

Da ich blöderweise den Tray-Client benutze, kann ich da nichts mit einblenden. Ich kann die FahLog.txt posten. Ich verspreche dir aber, dass ich vorher schon eine fertig gefoldet hatte und der PC danach einfach weitergemacht hat. Ich war weg, kam wieder und habe den Screenshot gemacht. Die PPD ergeben sich also aus den ganzen 32%.

Da siehst du das Ende der angebrochenen Unit, die komplette 5771-WU und den Anfang der nächsten WU. Beim nächsten Update mach ich mir die Konsolen Version drauf . Ich habs gerade mit dem Taschenrechner nachgerechnet. Wenn man die komplette WU nimmt komme ich auf einen PPD-Wert von 6777.

Das Problem ist, dass mein PC neben dem Bett steht und eine HD4850 mit Standardkühler ist nicht gerade das Optimum zum Schlafen.
Somit läuft mein PC pro Tag nur ~8h (wenn ich von der Uni heimkomme) und dann wird es knapp, da kein Tag ausfallen darf, ansonsten geht es sich nicht aus.
Ich kann nur Benchen, wenn ich mit meinen Hausübungen (Regelungstechnik und numerische Methoden) fertig werde bevor ich am Wochenende wieder Sani "spiele", ansonsten läuft mir die Zeit weg.

Ich hab mich bis jetzt nur bis 1875 bei meiner GTS gewagt.

Ach so war das mit der Uni gemeint.
Alternative wäre, GPU über Nacht aus zu machen und nur SMP ab und an durchlaufen zu lassen. Oder macht deine GraKa auch Krach, wenn sie nicht beansprucht wird?

Ja, ich gucke mal ob ich die Shader noch ein bisschen höher bekomme... 2005 ist schon geil, aber ich hatte einfach mal geguckt, was andere erreicht haben und dann einfach mal den höchsten Wert eingestellt - eben die 2005 MHz. Das heißt bis jetzt 46°C unter Volllast (1 Std. FurMark im Extreme Burning Mode usw.) und keine Artefakte o. ä. Ich denke ein bisschen geht noch

Mist, ich hab gerade eine WU bei 93% abgeschossen.
Bei 780/1040/1950 kam unstable machine und Ende Gelände.
Deine GTX hat ein neueres BIOS und verträgt wohl etwas mehr als meine 88GTS.

Das ist so geil, ich hab ein Projekt, bei dem der client immer schneller rechnet
und mir einen neuen Bestwert verschafft:
Mit einem X2 5050e@2,6GHz habe ich 3305 PPD.
Wie man sehr schön sehen kann, braucht der client anfangs 34 Min/frame und zum Ende nur noch 8 Min.
Um Fehler auszuschließen, hab ich sowohl den client runter gefahren und neu gestartet, als auch FahMon beendet und neu geöffnet.
Nach den nächsten 3 Frames hatte ich sogar noch mehr PPD. 3311!

Genau, unter "Ziel".
Wenn er meckert, dann ohne Anführungsstriche.
Wenn der client startet, meldet er, dass er 4 Kerne gefunden hat und nachdem die WU geladen wurde, geht die Auslastung aller Kerne auf 100%.
Dann weißt du, dass er SMP rechnet.
Es könnte aber sein, dass du nicht gleichzeitig SMP+GPU rechnen kannst (bzw dann nichts Weiteres mehr). ATI soll da etwas zickiger sein als nVidia.
Zum Starten bzw. Testen würde ich den GPU client erstmal aus lassen.
