XFX AMD Radeon R9 380X im Test (5/6)

Performance per Watt

Um den Strombedarf von neuen Grafikkarten zu ermitteln, messen wir diesen ab sofort für alle Interessierten auf zwei verschiedene Arten.  Da wir uns im Zuge unserer Netzteiltest ein eigenes komplettes Messlabor für Effizienz und Verbrauchsmessungen zugelegt haben, können wir dieses natürlich auch sehr gut für unsere Grafikkarten-Tests benutzen.

Zum einen messen wir den realen Verbrauch des gesamten Systems mit der Grafikkarte mittels eines äußerst präzisen Chroma 62202 Powermeter über einen längeren Zeitraum in 7 verschiedenen vollautomatisch laufenden Games, die bei jeder Grafikkarte die exakt gleichen Sequenzen über den gleichen Zeitraum abspielen.

Sowohl die FPS als auch der Verbrauch wird während des gesamten Laufs der etwa 30 Minuten protokoliert. Am Ende wird der Verbrauch in jedem einzelnen Game ermittelt und den in jedem Game erreichten durchschnittlichen FPS gegenüber gestellt. Wir erhalten also in jedem Game durchschnittliche Verbrauchswerte und eine genaue Performance per Watt Angabe, die uns angibt wie viel FPS pro Watt die Grafikkarte generiert hat.

Das folgende Diagramm bildet den gesamtem Verlauf der Messung und die Stromaufnahme im Sekundentakt ab. Verglichen wird hier die GTX 780 Ti, die GTX 980,  gegen die Reihe der XFX Modelle.

Als wirklichen Stromsparer kann man die neue Radeon R9 380X wohl nicht bezeichnen, denn sie bewegt sich beim Verbrauch etwa auf dem Level einer GeForce GTX 980, die in der Performance aber deutlich höher liegt. Die Karte hat ebenfalls eine klar höhere Leistungsaufnahme als die Radeon R9 380, bietet aber dafür auch eine höhere Performance, insbesondere in neuen Spielen. Zudem muss man betrachten, das unsere R9 380 nur mit 2 GB  und nicht wie die R9 380X mit 4 GB Arbeitsspeicher ausgestattet war. Insgesamt liegt die R9 380X damit grob gesagt auf dem selben Effizienzlevel wie die R9 380, fällt aber deutlich hinter die derzeit effizientesten Karten wie die Radon R9 Nano, GTX 960 oder GTX 980 zurück.
