ASUS bringt Canterwood Board mit Dual CPU Support

ASUS stellte vor kurzem das erste Canterwood-Mainboard vor, das zwei Intel CPUs auf ein Board lässt. Gedacht ist das Board für Xeon Prozessoren, folglich ist es besonders für den Servermarkt und Workstations interessant.

Das Board hat allerdings einen normalen Canterwood Chipsatz, was die Frage aufwirft, ob der i875 nicht auch von sich aus Dual Prozessor-fähig ist. Intel könnte damit auf dem Servermarkt einiges an Vorteilen für sich in Anspruch nehmen, da ein i875 billiger ist als ein "richtiger" Dual CPU Chipsatz. Intel setzt Dual CPU aber nicht auf die Liste der Features des i875. Daher kann man vermuten, dass ASUS kleine Modifikationen an dem Chip vorgenommen hat.
