Half-Life uses the Quake 2 engine, but youid hardly recognise it. Valve have added their own proprietary technology which allows for 16-bit (65,000 colour) rendering, motion blurs and decent transparency, and the advanced scripting system helps the plot along nicely. All of these enhancements work in software, for those gamers lacking a 3D accelerator. Needless to say, though, things look whole lot better with a 3Dfx card. quelle
