@NiTCOM
Danke, Danke, Danke
@Solae & Live

One word of caution in the matter: You absolutely MUST be certain you are affected by the problem before you attempt to correct it! If you fry something because you didn't test the socket for the problem first, Thermaltake will NOT cover the damage you did. Failure to test for the problem prior to correcting for it is done completely at your own risk!!

Beyond that, there's been some VERY interesting developments on this subject - I don't have time right now to go into too much detail because it's 2:48am here and I REALLY need to go to bed, but in a nutshell, Weller Chen at Thermaltake contacted me on Tuesday and OFFICIALLY ACKNOWLEDGED THE WIRING DEFECT ON CERTAIN XASER III CASES. He's asking anyone impacted by this issue to email him directly with the date code information from your Xaser III case, which can be found on a blue quarter-sized stamp found just below the hole where the front bezel EL light wire passes through - right next to the hard drive cage just inside the case. It should say something like "REV 1.0, 15 JAN 2003, QC Pass".

If you have been affected by this problem, you are urged to contact Weller Chen as soon as possible. E-mail him at wellerc@thermaltake.com and provide your full name and contact information, the stamp information described above, and a description of what equipment was damaged as a result of the wiring defect. Also be prepared to provide receipts for the damanged equipment upon request.

I'll get my site updated as soon as possible with this breaking news as well as a picture of the stamp that Weller's looking for. Thermaltake's trying to identify the date range of affected cases. So far, we know for sure that it at least goes from 29 JAN 2003 to 18 FEB 2003 and affects both steel and aluminum Xaser III cases.

NOTE TO AFFECTED ENERMAX CUSTOMERS: YOU NEED TO START A DIALOG WITH ENERMAX TECHNICAL SUPPORT. THERMALTAKE OBVIOUSLY CAN'T BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR DEFECTS ON ENERMAX-BRANDED CASES. IT'S UP TO YOU AS THEIR CUSTOMER TO MAKE THEM AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM. I STILL DON'T HAVE 100% PROOF THAT THE PROBLEM OCCURS ON ENERMAX CASES, AND UNTIL SOMEONE DOES THE EXACT TEST PROCEDURE DESCRIBED ON MY WEB SITE, I CAN'T HELP YOU!

It's starting to look like Thermaltake is actually going to cover their customers.... I don't want to get too excited just yet, but Weller seemed extremely enthusiastic about putting the smack down on this problem and taking care of people affected by it.

More to follow as the situation developes.

PS: I REALLY need confirmed test results and stamp data! If you know you have the problem, PLEASE Email that information to me ASAP! 1394@meltybrain.com

Thanks,

SonarTech
