Ab Februar will Alias Wavefront sein 3D- und Animationsprogramm kostenlos zum Download anbieten. Natürlich handelt es sich dabei nicht um das komplette Profi-Tool, doch immerhin ist es eine voll funktionsfähige "Personal Learning Edition". Diese darf nicht kommerziell genutzt werden und wird in jede Datei ein Wasserzeichen einfügen. Darüber hinaus wird man die Grafik-Dateien nur in einem für andere Software unbekannten Format abspeichern können. Maya unterstützt Windows NT, 2000 und XP, sowie Mac OS X.
