Pressemitteilung: Platinix 2D-A Mainboard-An Integration of QDI’s Latest Innovative Technologies The new Intel 845 DDR chipset has generated a fresh round of innovations for the Pentium® 4 platform aimed at the PC medium-end market. QDI Platinix 2D-A (P2D-A) Mainboard is QDI’s first product based on the latest Intel 845DDR chipset, supporting socket 478 Pentium® 4 processors of over 2GHz and DDR internal memory with up to 2GB memory size. QDI released four new EASY technologies at COMDEX last month, i.e. LOGOEASY II, RECOVERYEASY II, STEPEASY II AND SPEEDEASY II, which has all been integrated in the new P2D-A. P2D-A also implements the HARDWARE DOCTOR and CPU triple protection designs. Safety Guard: For the high-performance and high-end Pentium® 4 processor safety of the CPU is what users are most concerned about. QDI anticipated this need and has applied its in-house developed CPU protection technologies to the P2D-A mainboard. HARDWARE DOCTOR, with five LED’s to monitor the key hardware including CPU/ chipset, internal memory, PCI, clock generator and display card has improved the previous method of judging. This happens during normal up-time operations through the combination of different colors of the few diagnosing LED’s. The new method is simpler and more practical to users, cautioning them to solve problems without the need of a special retainer or any extra cost. The users who practice overclocking will be able to easily locate where the bottleneck is through HARDWARE DOCTOR. The CPU triple protection technology goes a different way, ensuring the safety of the system through temperature control of the CPU. The first-layer protection allows the user to set the warning temperature limit in the mainboard BIOS. That is, when the temperature of the CPU rises to the set warning limit, the mainboard will give out a pre-warning buzz. After the first warning and the user fail to respond immediately whilst the CPU’s temperature continues to rise, CPU safety cannot be guaranteed. The QDI protection technology however will solve this: first, the CPU will output PROCHOT# signals and secondly, the system will work at the preset duty cycle (CPU THRM-Throttling). CPU will reduce the operating speed and STPCLK signals will periodically help the CPU stop working intermittently, leading the CPU’s temperature to fall automatically and protect the CPU. Even with the above two-layer protection, one cannot guarantee the prevention of occurrence of unexpected incidents. Now the third layer of protection will function, shutting down the computer normally through WINDOWS and guaranteeing the completeness of the data. In addition, the R&D department has added one more last line of protection-hardware shutdown. That is, when CPU’s temperature has reached the highest limit (the highest temperature limit itself is stored in CPU), the hardware will force the system to shut down to protect the CPU. Another safety guard is RECOVERYEASY II to protect stored data. This technology can back up, protect and immediately recover the data on a hard disk to prevent loss of data. It can equally protect and recover the data of CMOS. RECOVERYEASY II provides a simple interface and a hot-key. Just click and the system will partition a protection area in the top area cluster to store the backed up data, guaranteeing the backup of the data at the hardware level and adding safety to the PC. RECOVERYEASY II implements a new technology, which automatically determines the size of the backup area, partitioned, as the occupied area will depend on the size of the backed up data. Dynamic change of partitions of the hard disk provides a more economical use of the hard disk, hence saving storage space. A Right Hand for Overclocking: Overfrequency and overvoltage are two common methods of overclocking. The new overclocking technologies‹STEPEASY II AND SPEEDEASY II play their respective roles in overfrequency and overvoltage. STEPEASY II is entirely compatible with STEPEASY technology, having the function of stepless frequency change. It can change the operating frequency of CPU within seconds and improve the system operating performance, saving the trouble of restarting the computer or opening the chassis to set the jumper setting. It provides a more user-friendly interface, an easier use and handier overclocking. This technology has integrated MANAGEEASY monitoring technology to monitor the CPU voltage and CPU temperature and provides a clear view of the stability of the entire system. When having selected a stable frequency, the user may save it in the system. Once stored that, just press the "LOAD" key at Start-Up and the frequency at which the CPU operates will be the frequency value you have saved. When the user clicks the "GO" button, the current temperature of CPU and its voltage will also be updated. It is more convenient for the user to control and manage his/her own personal computer. FSB frequency and external CLOCK frequency will also be displayed on the interface. Users can easily view the updated data instantly. Apart from the jumper-free function, SPEEDEASY II users can also realize the CPU core voltage adjustability, AGP voltage adjustability and DDR memory module voltage adjustability in the BIOS setup. When the overclocking fails, in combination with the diagnosis of HARDWARE DOCTOR, the user can select to adjust the voltage appropriately and break through the bottleneck of overclocking. Personalized Style: Another attractive new technology from QDI is LOGOEASY II. It can be easily operated under Windows and supports JPEG images and true color display of 64K and 16M colors. LOGOEASY II supports the high-resolution 640*480 or 800*600 image display and full-screen, or corner display. It also supports simultaneous display of POST information and graphics of logo at the top right corner or bottom right corner. It provides a multi-platform tool to refresh and alter LOGO pictures. The new Legend QDI P2D-A mainboard has successfully integrated a number of the latest state-of-the art PC technologies. The high-speed Intel Pentium® 4 processor and the excellent performance/price-ratio of DDR internal memory in combination with these new QDI technologies offer the newest Legend QDI PC platform supported by the worldąs best-of-breed technologies
