ATI stellt neuen Catalyst 3.8 bereit

ATI hat gestern den neuen Catalyst-Treiber 3..8 veröffentlicht. Wie gewohnt, kann man mit dem Catalyst-Treiber jede Radeon-Grafikkarte ansprechen. Die neue Version bietet etliche Neuerungen.

So verbindet ATI nun die Treiberbereiche Direct3D und OpenGL, es können Game Profile im Treiber eingestellt/gespeichert werden und nun ist auch das "SmartShader Effects"-Feature verfügbar. Unter "SmartShader Effects" vesteht ATI die Möglichkeit, die Farben am PC komplett umzukehren oder alle Spiele in "Schwarz-Weiss" darzustellen. Das mit den Radeon 9800 XT eingeführte "OverDrive"-Feature erlaubt die dynamische Übertaktung, die die Auslastung der Grafikkarte und die Umgebungstemperatur berücksichtigt.
Ebenfalls neu ist die "VPU Recover"-Funktion, die bei einem gravierenden Grafik-Fehler (Absturz) einen Reset der Radeon-Karte vornehmen kann. Somit sollte in manchen Fällen der komplette Reboot entfallen. Wie Sie sehen, handelt es sich teilweise um "große Neuerungen".
