New Generation of SiS Southbridge Chipsets Pass JMicron's PCI Express Compatibility Tests
SiS' Complete Line of PCI Express Southbridge Chipsets Demonstrate Perfect Compatibility
Taipei, July 14th, 2005 -- Leading core logic chipset manufacturer Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) announced today that the new generation SiS Southbridge chipsets – the SiS965, SiS965L, SiS966 and SiS966L – have passed recent PCI Express compatibility validation, which were performed in a cooperative venture with fabless IC company JMicron.
PCI Express technology's biggest assets are its high bandwidth and transmission speed, which improves point-to-point data transfer efficiency and significantly improves overall system performance. PCIe's highly-efficient data transfer access allows high compatibility with other peripheral devices. SiS continues to develop PCI Express technology as part of its commitment to constantly offer new and innovative products, and has been proactively working with partners to perform compatibility testing on all of its products.
JMicron has consistently offered outstanding performance with its high-speed, serial link technology, and deserves high praise for its achievements in the field of SATA II technology. Through this cooperative venture, SiS performed tests on its Southbridge chipsets for PCIe interface compatibility, yielding fully satisfactory results.
"In this opportunity for cooperation, we have become fully confident in all of the new PCI Express Southbridge chipsets made by SiS," President of JMicron, Mr. Tim Liu said. "One cannot deny that PCI Express has already become the most important future specification for PCs, and all the PCIe-support devices are sure to be the most sought-after products in the future. We believe that if we can integrate JMicron's R&D achievements with SiS' PCI Express Southbridge chipsets, we will be able to improve a system's overall performance even further,"
Daniel Chen, the CEO and President of SiS, said, "JMicron has indeed made a high achievement with its PCI Express and Serial ATA II technology -- we are very satisfied with this cooperative testing result." He added, "SiS has launched a series of PCIe Southbridge chipsets, which have impressed and delighted the market and all the users with outstanding product performance and amazing stability. Through the hard work of our R&D team and close cooperation with our technical partners, we will continue to provide the highest-standard quality for computer gaming enthusiasts and the general market."
JMicron has mass produced the bridge controller chip – JMB360, which can integrate PCI Express interface and Serial ATA II technology, and also be adopted by famous PC motherboard makers.
SiS PCIe southbridge chipsets on the market currently include the SiS965, SiS965L, SiS966, and SiS966L, all of which are compatible with Intel and AMD platforms. SiS continues to release a wide variety of other products for the personal computer market.
