Pressemitteilung XFX Adopts AMD Compatibility Standards City of Industry, Calif. -- Nov. 16, 2002 -- XFX, the gamer’s choice for full-throttle, bigger-than-life video graphics, is pleased to announce its compatibility with the upcoming AMD OpteronTM and AMD AthlonTM processors based on Hammer technology. “We would be out of step with our entire industry without compliance to AMD’s pace-setting processing standards,” said XFX Director of Product evelopment, Ryan Dumas. ”The scalability and reliability of AMD processors helps me to sleep at night.” The joining of these technologies also marks a perfect launching point for XFX motherboards, the brand’s newest contender in the processor category. By producing boards that fully adhere to AMD’s x86-64 specifications, XFX can provide customers the stellar performance of XFX video cards through the x86-64 platform. "No other processor is designed to run 32-bit applications while providing protection for seamless migrations with 64-bit extensions,” said Lionel Garcia, XFX Director of Marketing. “In other words, it’s a no-brainer. Customers can purchase XFX motherboards with the same confidence gamers have for our killer video cards.” “XFX is a consistent innovator of cutting-edge gaming solutions that are now optimized for our upcoming AMD Athlon and AMD Opteron processors based on Hammer technology,” said Ed Gasiorowski, director of developer relations for AMD’s Computation Products Group. “Users will soon be able to benefit from enhanced system performance from both 32- and 64-bit applications.” Powered by HyperTransportTM technology, the future AMD Opteron processor with Hammer technology will allow chips inside PC’s, networking, and communications devices to communicate with each other up to 48 times faster than many current bus technologies. The AMD Opteron processor is based on AMD’s proprietary Hammer technology with x84-64 bit computing and can reduce memory and I/O bottlenecks, increase bandwidth and reduce latency. This multiprocessing platform is expected to set a new standard by enabling unprecedented performance speed and stability for point-to-point links among integrated circuits. The AMD Opteron processor is expressly designed to deploy 64-bit performance to enterprises that are heavily invested in 32-bit software applications. It is ideal for applications that address large amounts of physical and virtual memory, such as high-performance servers, database management systems and CAD tools.
