Intel Core i7 3960X Overclocking Benchmarks

Mit den 4,4 GHz die wir relativ einach auf dem neuen Intel Core i7 3960X erreicht haben, haben wir dann auch einmal unseren Benchmarklauf durchgeführt. Mit 4,4 GHz liegen wir ja auch bereits 1,1 GHz über dem Standard Basis Takt des Prozessors und nageln den Turbo auf allen 6 Kernen auf diesen Level fest. 

Neben dem einfachen übertakten hat uns aber noch etwas anderes Interessiert und zwar zwei recht einfache sicher für den neuen Sockel interessante Tuning Fragen. Zum einen die Frage ob 16 GB Speicher irgend einen Nutzen gegenüber 8 GB Speicher bringen und zum anderen ob 2133 MHz Speichertakt eine bessere Performance liefern als 1600 MHz Speichertakt. Immerhin hat der neue Prozessor dank Quad-Channel-Interface sowieso schon einen extrem hohen Speicherdurchsatz und schon beim 1155 Sandy Bridge zeigte sich, das die Performance mit Steigerung des RAM-Takts nur sehr geringfügig steigt.

Da der Taktunterschied von festen 3,6 GHz, die der Prozessor mit Turbo unter guten Bedigungen fährt, bis hin zu 4,4 GHz beträgt etwa 22%. Ein auf einen Turbo von 4,4 GHz fest gesetzter Core i7 3960X sollte also auch in etwa diese 22% an Mehrleistung in gut skalierenden Benchmarks zu Tage bringen.

Tatsächlich zeigt sich dies auch und so bringt zum Beispiel der Cinebench im OC 23% Mehrleistung auf die Wage als im normalen Turbo Modus. Das Übertakten des Speichers bringt hingegen eher nichts, außer vielleicht in ganz Speziellen Fällen.
