Windows 8: Adobe bestätigt Flash-Unterstützung

Der Flash-Entwickler Adobe hat sich in seinem Adobe Flash Platform Blog zu Windows 8 geäußert und angekündigt, dass Windows-8-Nutzer umfangreich Gebrauch von der Flash-Technologie machen können, um das reichhaltige Angebot an Spielen und Videos auf Flash-Basis zu nutzen. Dabei betont Adobe, dass Flash via Adobe Air vermutlich auch in das neue Metro-UI Einzug finden werde.

"In addition, we expect Flash based apps will come to Metro via Adobe AIR, much the way they are on Android, iOS and BlackBerry Tablet OS today[...]. We are excited about the innovation and opportunities that are available to our customers and Adobe as the web and platforms evolve across devices, including Windows 8 and Metro."

Der volle Flashsupport wird allerdings nur auf dem klassischen Desktop zur Verfügung stehen. Auf der Build-Konferenz hat Microsoft angekündigt, dass der Internet Explorer 10 mit Metro-UI keine Plugins erlauben werde. Die Umsetzung erfolge streng nach dem HTML5-Standard und Microsoft wolle keine anderen Techniken in das Metro-UI aufnehmen um die Technik so zukunftssicher zu gestalten, wie möglich. Eine direkte Integration des Flash-Plugins ist somit ausgeschlossen.
